  • Posted on 7 Aug 2014
  • In Nav Reports, Photo Galleries

At approximately 2:30p (HST), Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia departed from Avatiu Harbor on Rarotonga and heading North for the island of Aitutaki.  Current speed average is 5 to 6 knots, making projected landfall sometime tomorrow afternoon.  Wind speed is about 8-10 knots and is coming from the East – North East.  Currently at 10p, the skies are completely covered with clouds, forcing the navigation team of Bonnie Kahapea-Tanner and Kaimana Barcarse to use other elements.
