Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia depart Hilo for Tahiti.

A new composition by Chucky Boy Chock, Jack Johnson, and Paula Fuga celebrate the new generation of navigators. The artists have recorded the song as an in-kind donation to the Polynesian Voyaging Society to raise awareness about the voyage.

What started as a mere dream to take our vessels around the world has come to full fruition, thanks in no small part to this sense of aloha, kuleana (responsibility) and sincere belief that the expansive ʻohana waʻa has in the mission of the canoes.

Weather permitting, the crews will depart from Hilo on Friday, May 30, 2014 to Tahiti.
