Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – Marine Education & Training Center – Sand Island
Hōkūle’a crew members prepared and departed from Sand Island on Friday and sailed to the sacred shores of Hakipu’u and Kualoa where Hokule’a was first launched 37 years ago. Hōkūleʻa will be at Kualoa Beach Park for the City’s Canoe Festival on Saturday. There will be on-board tours of Hōkūleʻa and other sailing canoes, activities and games, and food booths to support Hawaiian charter schools. The event is free. 10am-3pm.
From Kualoa, Hōkūleʻa will embark on the Statewide sail from April 16 through August 7. The Statewide sail is the Hawaiʻi-based start to the World Wide Voyage. More information on the Statewide sail, including stops, will be posted through this website blog.
