Hōkūleʻa Update | January 21, 2018: Julie Corpuz

Hōkūleʻa is on the water again as the Mahalo Hawaiʻi, Sail continues to visit communities throughout islands. Joining us today to talk about it is ninth grade Kamaile Academy student Julie Corpuz. Julie, with five fellow classmates, are learning the ropes from Polynesian Voyaging Society Crewmembers as the group makes their way to Ko Olina in West Oʻahu.

The students are part of a science team known as Na Hoʻokele (the navigators) and were invited by master navigator Nainoa Thompson to experience firsthand what it’s like to sail aboard Hōkūleʻa.
