May 27 Sailing in the ‘Alenuihāhā Channel

Continuing sea trials and crew training for the World Wide Voyage, Hōkūle‘a sailed from Lahaina into strong winds in  the ‘Alenuihāhā channel between Maui and Hawai‘i to prepare for possible similar conditions of strong winds and opposing surface currents creating dangerous conditions in the southern Indian Ocean along the east coast of South Africa.
