Sept 23: Photos of Voyage Preparation, Hosts in Aotearoa

Chef Kealoha Hoe trains us on use of the galley, especially safety when using the propane gas cookers.

Captain Bruce Blankenfeld goes over the use of the life rafts.

Through all this training, the crew is really beginning to come together.

We had a very special treat when Andrew and Keala, our terrific Maori host and his Hawaiian wife, invited us over for a delicious “hangi”, a traditional meal similar to an imu. Their imu pit is a very efficient modern version – very clever!

Andrew and Keala set quite a spread and we had a wonderful time. Mahalo nui!

Tataiarangi and Ka’iulani Murphy having a very good time
