The crew woke to a steady Hilo rain pattering on the deck as their anticipation mounted for their departure in the afternoon.

Hikianalia arrives in Hilo to an outpouring of aloha by community members.

A look back to May 30, 2014 when Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia departed Palekai, Hilo for Tahiti on the Mālama Honua Worldwide Voyage.

Weather permitting, the crews will depart from Hilo on Friday, May 30, 2014 to Tahiti.

Everything is driven by the weather, everything is driven by the wind.

The Hilo community gave their aloha to Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia as departure for Tahiti approaches.
