Hōkūleʻa sailed into the iconic Sydney Harbor and was welcomed to the country by the traditional owners of these lands. Crewmembers were eager to learn more about these people and spent some time with the Tribal Warrior group in Redfern.

None of us could have foreseen how fortuitous it would be for us to be in Sydney not only on a personal level, but in our capacity representatives of Hawai‘i and the Hōkūle‘a crew.

At the end of the day, we had a great mahalo sail in the harbor for all of our supporters from the American Embassy, the Maritime Museum, and it was awesome to be able to share our waʻa on an evening sail with them.
