Pwo navigator Shorty Bertelmann is among other Hōkūleʻa crewmembers who recently visited the island of Kahoʻolawe. A significant historical use of Kahoʻolawe was as a training place for Hawaiian navigators and the launching point for voyages back to Kahiki (Tahiti). Mahalo to 'Oiwi TV for the story.
