Community Welcomes Hikianalia (weather pending)

Location: Kohala, Waho – Kawaihae, HI

Join the host ‘ohana in welcoming the canoe. Potluck for community participants and wa‘a ‘ohana – bring something to share!


Wednesday, March 2, 5:30-8pm

Music and Stories from the Canoe

Location: Puʻu Koholā Heiau, Lonooualiʻi

This event is free and open to all families and community members. Stories and music led by Chadd Paishon and Maulili Dickson and the Makaliʻi ʻOhana and ʻOhana Waʻa.

Education Engagement Day

Location: All throughout West Hawaiʻi

Organize and pair up schools and community organizations who mālama honua for community service learning or classroom visitation.

Location: Pua Ka ʻIlima (Kawaihae Coral flats)

This event is free and open to all families and community members. Featuring three demonstrations:

  • Fish Surveys
  • Water Safety
  • Waʻa Mele & ʻoli

Community partner booths.

Location: Kona Keauhou Shopping Center

Special Guest Speaker: Celeste Haʻo from ʻImiloa Astronomy Center sharing the Kolea Waʻa Took Kit, which is soon to be available to teachers.
