Nearly 50,000 people gathered at Oʻahu's Magic Island to welcome Hōkūleʻa home from her 42,000-mile Worldwide Voyage.

A quick break in the clouds revealing the Southern Cross offered a timely makana to the crew, affirming their way forward.

More than 2,000 miles along Hōkūleʻa's course, 3 years on this voyage, and now just days from her historic return home, the crew wants to "honor and mahalo those that came before us, who dreamt impossible dreams, and backed it up with the kind of determination in life that took our little canoe around Island Earth."

With near 100% cloud cover the past few nights, vigilant crew members must utilize all of their senses, "seeking into the darkness for what cannot be seen."

The crew experiences some much appreciated sunshine, calmer swells and an 'ono dinner of seared ahi, curry, and a pineapple upside-down cake.
