Hōkūleʻa represents a real-life connection to her heritage and culture. Hōkūleʻa embodies a commonality between herself as originally from Tonga and her love for Hawaii. It allows her a way to connect to her Hawaiian Ohana.
Through being involved with PVS and Hōkūleʻa she has found a community that shares the same values that she practices with the Polynesian Culture, the ocean, and science and environmental stewardship.
