Crew Profile: Harry Ho

PVS Member Since

HOMETOWN: Holualoa-Kona, Hawai'i
PRIMARY DUTY:
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
WORLDWIDE VOYAGE LEGS SAILED: Leg 6: Waitangi to Auckland
Harry was a volunteer during the construction and trial sailing on Hōkūleʻa before her maiden voyage in 1976. He sailed on his first voyage to Tahiti in 1980 and has served on the Board of Directors of PVS since then. When not sailing, he is the Director of Facilities at the Oceanic Institute of HPU.

Despite being involved with PVS for so long, Harry sees Hōkūleʻa as a chapter of his life yet to end. He hopes that through the Worldwide Voyage, the rest of the world will take PVS's lead in perpetuating traditional culture and taking care of the earth.

While sailing, Harry misses eating at Gyotaku's Japanese Restaurant in Niu Valley. Back on land, he misses the wind in his ears 24/7!
