WORLDWIDE VOYAGE LEGS SAILED: Leg 5: Samoa to Aotearoa
Kat Lobendahn is originally from Suva, Fiji, but grew up on Oahu since 1974. She has worked on Hōkūleʻa, but only sailed aboard Hikianalia.

For her Hōkūleʻa symbolizes the perpetuation of a very important component of her cultural heritage as a Polynesian and Pacific Islander. She also believes Hōkūleʻa represents the virtual past link to her past and her ancestors who were fearless and brave in their persuits in voyaging across the region and connecting to a greater ʻohana in Moana Nui Akea.

She would love to be the part that accomplishes the common goal with communities across the world to be unified in tangibly working toward taking care of our Island Earth.

While out to sea she loves the relationships and bonding that take place, also the serenity of the ocean and taking pleasure in conversation with those who have a like-minded goal.
