Crew Profile: Wallace Wong

PVS Member Since 1992

HOMETOWN: Hilo, Hawaii
PRIMARY DUTY: Electrician
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Ground Tackle, Mooring
Originally from Hilo, Hawaii first set sail aboard Hōkūleʻa in 1992. This voyage mean that he will be seeing the future through the past and looks forward to sharing the Hawaiian Aloha spirit with the world.

Wallace is looking forward to sharing his experiences as he has done in the the past. Not only does he love sharing his experiences with everyone, but makes it a point to always try using it in everyday life. He feels a part of something great and doesn't ever want that chain to break. Its his duty to keep it going and keep it strong.

Since the beginning of Hōkūle'a in 1976, Wallace has always wanted to be a part of it and be able to experience the feeling of what his ancestors experienced. The adventure and agony of sailing as well as the happiness of sighting Hawai'i after such a long voyage from the south Pacific, the camaraderie of the crew, your friends; your family at sea; people you look to for strength and courage and help when in need is what he will miss the most when he comes back on land.
