Dr. Marjorie Leimomi Mala Mau first became involved with PVS in 2007 when she sailed aboard Hōkūleʻa from Pohnpei to Satawal, Micronesia to aid in delivering the voyaging canoe Maisu and provide health support to pwo Master Navigator Mau Piailug. She most recently sailed the Mālama Honua Worldwide Voyage on first half of Leg #3 from Tautira, Tahiti to Rarotonga, Cook Islands aboard Hikianalia and served as the medical officer for Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia crewmembers.

Dr. Mau is a physician and professor of Native Hawaiian Health at the University of Hawaiʻi and the first and founding chair of the Department of Native Hawaiian Health.

While sailing, Dr. Mau looks forward to learning from other cultures and particularly exchanging knowledge about health and wellness. When not sailing, Dr Mau enjoys traveling between Alaska and Hawaii with her husband, her twins and her 2 sons.
