Kaimana earned a degree in Hawaiian Studies at the University of Hawai'i Hilo and became involved in voyaging soon after. In 2000, he became a member of PVS. Kaimana is the Coordinator for Hawaiian Language and Culture of the ʻĀina Based Education Department of Kamehameha Schools.
Kaimana looks forward to reconnecting with the ocean and being a part of another life-long crew aboard Hōkūleʻa. He hopes that, through the Worldwide Voyage, Hōkūleʻa can change the way people view the world and view each other and inspire action to improve our life on island earth.
