Ana became involved with PVS in 2007 through her father, a longtime member. To her, Hōkūleʻa is more than a sailing canoe - it is a physical connection to the ocean, her home, and her family that I can hold, touch, see, and feel. She is honored to be able to spread this connection throughout the world and to make it stronger and more meaningful. Through the Worldwide Voyage, she believes that Hōkūleʻa will reveal that we are all not so different, and that united we are stronger.
On the first leg of the Worldwide Voyage, she served as cook on Hōkūleʻa. She loves being on the ocean and enjoys the challenges of voyaging and the relationships you make along the way. For her, the most challenging thing about sailing is being prepared for the unknown - whether that is the weather, cooking, or maintaining the personal health and patience that is necessary for voyaging. While back on land, Ana enjoys hiking, paddling, swimming, running, and reading.
