Randy's love of Hawai‘i and appreciation for her culture is deeply rooted in a long family history of respect and affection for the Hawaiian people. He was born and raised in Honolulu. He served in the US Air Force and several airlines before retiring and learning to sail. He and his wife bought a sailboat, Likeke, and travelled abroad on her for many years before settling in Florida, where they still sail often and are very familiar with the waterways.
For Randy, it seems very natural living on the water close to nature and it's wonders. His best and most fun and interesting times were spent "on the hook" in various, sometimes magical, places. When he's back on land, he misses that special time and being back on the ocean.
