Jackie is from Hong Kong and Los Angeles, and now lives in Honolulu where she works as a teacher. She first got involved with the Polynesian Voyaging Society in Fall 2015 when she began crew training on Hikianalia. Leg 24 was her first time sailing on Hōkūleʻa.
To Jackie, Hōkūleʻa means reconnecting to the past to enlighten the present. Through the Worldwide Voyage, Jackie hopes that Hōkūleʻa can inspire a greater appreciation for nature.
Out at sea, Jackie misses her pets, including her dog, cat, and fish. While back on land, she misses the color of the ocean.
