Miki, originally born and raised in Maui, now lives on Oahu. Her first channel crossing was Kalaupapa to Honolulu.
Mikiʻs hope for this leg of the journey is that the waʻa’s can act as a catalyst to connect and inspire global learners of all ages through the values of voyaging, Hawaiian culture, and Mālama Honua. Miki believes the voyage can inspire leadership and resilience in the communities through engaging youth and learners of all ages, so that everyone can help to shape a brighter, better future for our pae ʻāina and the world.
While out to sea, she feels she will crave the comfort and solitude of being at home on a quiet day with her daughter.
