Doldrums Sail May 2021: Hikianalia
Patrick Karjala from Mililani, Oʻahu will be sailing on Hikianalia for the first time to the Doldrums in May 2021.
To Patrick, Hōkūleʻa means connecting the world and recognizing that we are all part of this waʻa of Earth, and that we need to care for it and each other.
When Patrick is at sea, he will most likely miss air conditioning. When on land, he will miss how absolutely dark things can get at night; on land there is a lot of light bleed that keeps you from seeing the stars.
