Tomoki is one of Japan's finest captains in a long and honorable sea-going tradition. He first sailed on Hōkūleʻa in 2007 on a voyage to Japan. For Tomoki, Hōkūleʻa represents the values of respect, learning, and challenge. Through the Worldwide Voyage, Tomoki hopes to connect and spread the messages that Hōkūleʻa and her crew brought to Japan in 2007.
